Little Ringed Plover 2nd of the Spring

I popped to Black Hole Marsh after work to see if there was anything about and found this lovely Little Ringed Plover. I sent the message out and Sue Smith was soon on the scene; unfortunately the bird had moved further away by this time. Here's a few snaps:

GREAT SPOTTED CUCKOO IN DEVON !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many thanks to the couple who found this stunning bird on patch at Branscombe this afternoon; I caught up with it later after Bun had relocated it at Beer Head. I'm very busy so I'll just put up the one pic for people to see! I took quite a few so I'll upload more soon. Let's hope that this one survives!

ID the bird!!

Okay so this isn't difficult, but what's the species of bird obscured by the 'wave'?

Pretty easy one to work out really...

Whilst I was busy not seeing the short-visiting Spoonbill, I took a couple of shots of a flyover Peregrine Falcon:

Another Spring migrant wader!

Only a Green Sandpiper but hopefully things will improve soon... Here's a few lousy pics (hideous lighting; shooting into the Sun):

Lovely first 2014 migrant wader at Black Hole Marsh

Just a quick post, there will be more content soon!! After feeling a bit lousy I booked this afternoon off work as holiday and it was definitely worthwhile. I saw the Gadwall at Seaton Marshes (will upload pics at a later date) and also found our first proper migrant wader, a stunning Little Ringed Plover. A few other locals soon joined me after I sent the message out. Let's hope that some more join it so we can try and break last years record flock of 23...

Roll on Spring...

Well there are plenty of signs of an imminent Spring and I'm very much looking forward to it. I'll certainly be setting my alarm nice and early most mornings and getting out before work every day. Clocks changing will help for after work birding too as it's still pretty dark when I finish work at the moment...
Here's a couple of recent shots. Not particularly interesting but it beefs up this otherwise short post!
